Used English saddle - Tips on buying a used english saddle
When shopping for an English saddle don’t automatically disregard buying a used model. Quite often it is possible to find an excellent used English saddle, built by a saddle maker that you may not otherwise be able to afford.
Be sure to keep in mind that as with any saddle purchase, it is imperative that the saddle properly fit your horse. No matter how inexpensive the used English saddle may be, if it doesn’t fit, it is no bargain. If necessary, enlist the help of a friend or trainer find the used English saddle that best fits you and your horse.
As with buying any used saddle, when buying a used English saddle always check for damage and excessive wear, especially around the girth and billets. Safety must always be taken into consideration, and any damage that requires fixing must be taken into account as part of the overall purchase price of the used English saddle. A saddle that may seem like a bargain could in the end cost hundreds more in repairs, so buyer beware.
