English saddle - The same, but different

The term English saddle is actually an generic one, any saddle designed for the English disciplines is considered an English saddle. From the finest custom made dressage saddle or all purpose synthetic English saddle, to a collegiate event saddle, all are included under the term English saddle.

Dressage saddles have a deeper seat and straighter flaps allowing the rider to maintain a position with a deeper seat and an extended leg position, while having the ability to sit forward as far as possible. The jumper saddle requires closer contact, more forward flaps and a shallow seat. If you are looking for the freedom of riding both, on the flat and over fences, an all purpose saddle may be just right for you.

Recent changes in technology have provided riders with more options in English saddles than ever before. Riders choose now between leather and synthetic, colour and weight and even treed, flex tree or no tree! Searching for the right English saddle may seem like a daunting task, but don’t be afraid to ask someone knowledgeable to help.
