Saddle making - An ancient art evolves
As it has been for hundreds of years, saddle making is an art. Craftsmen have dedicated their lives to the search for the perfect saddle design.
While the basic design remains unchanged, what is between the rider and the horse is evolving constantly. In some cases it is as simple as a change from a wood to fibreglass tree, or as complex as the flexible or even treeless designs. Synthetic saddles have appeared in recent years, and with this easy care option, weekend riders can save time on the upkeep that leather requires.
Even with the changes and innovations that continue in the art of saddle making, the basic premise remains to be maintaining and improving the connection between the horse and rider. Taking the time to study the innovations in saddle making can pay off for years to come, in both quality and piece of mind.
