Australian stock saddle - Accept no imitations
The Australian stock saddle has been in use in Australia as a stock saddle since the 1800’s. After the release of the movie The Man From Snowy River, the popularity of the Australian stock saddle has exploded. The interest that this movie raised has resulted in a demand for these comfortable saddles that has been met by Australian saddle makers.
Inevitably with popularity comes imitation, and saddle makers have begun making copies of Australian stock saddles, not always of the best quality. Some companies outside of Australia are building beautiful, top quality Australian stock saddles. Not all saddle makers are offering the best saddles, often building lesser quality models, as seen from some builders in India recently. As with any saddle purchase, make sure that what you are buying is a high quality saddle from a reputable saddle maker
Endurance and trail riders are more often turning to the comfort of the Australian stock saddle, instead of the western saddles that were the traditional choice for most riders. With these saddles becoming easier to find, there is a large selection to choose from, just be sure to do your homework before you buy!
