The Australian stock saddle has been in use in Australia as a stock saddle since the 1800’s. After the release of the movie The Man From Snowy River, the popularity of the Australian stock saddle has exploded. The interest that this movie raised has resulted in a demand for these comfortable saddles that has been met by Australian saddle makers.

Inevitably with popularity comes imitation, and saddle makers have begun making copies of Australian stock saddles, not always of the best quality.
